0:00 So welcome to the Gmail Declutter Engine. It does three things, one of which I've wanted to do for a very, very long time.
0:07 And it has one little fun feature that I'm going to show you first that's a sheet feature. But overall, the idea is that you can create labels in your Gmail from here.
0:20 You have a list of archivable senders. In your email, in your Gmail, you will have a label that says archivable.
0:29 You put that on a Gmail, on any thread, just click and drag it. And then, once the archivable engine is running, it will automatically look for those, add the people, the, the sender to this list, and then every day, only once a day, will archive those emails.
0:51 So, you get a chance to see them, and you don't have to archive them. It'll automatically do it for you.
0:56 Also, deletables. So, there's been some instances in, in some weird things, where I'm like, I still wanna be up in that list.
1:04 I wanna get the email, but I wanna delete it. And I, and I call this spam in some weird cases.
1:09 Or, there's also the situation that I've run into, where I've tried to unsubscribe from certain email lists. When I click unsubscribe, I can't.
1:17 Even using LeaveMeAlone.com, which I've used for a long time. I love LeaveMeAlone.com. It, it's an, an auto-unsubscriber. If you haven't tried that out, go try it.
1:24 I love it. I use it. But these are, like, three little features that LeaveMeAlone doesn't have, and I just wanna use Gmail in this particular way.
1:33 But, yeah. There is one weird, or a few instances where I've tried to unsubscribe from, uh, some thing, and it doesn't happen.
1:45 Like, I don't know, like, the link doesn't work, or I unsubscribe, and then it just keeps coming back. I think there was one, like, Dollar Flight Club or something that I, for the life of me, I've unsubscribed probably 50 times.
1:55 Um, but, yeah. I'll just delete them automatically now. Okay, so, why unsubscribe? I want to show you this first thing, this labeling system, is because here's my inbox, here's, uh, no label, or I have one label here, and I don't want to have to click create new label, create a new label, then each label
2:17 that I want to add under that, I have to go and then create that label again, and I have to color it.
2:23 So, what happens here is, Thank Thank you. I've created archivable label, and then I've created a sub-label called processed, and it's all I have to do, archivable, archivable, process, so both of these, and they're colored, and I color them from here, this important, I don't want it to be gray, I want
2:40 it to be teal, where's teal, teal, and watch what happens, it automatically changes this color, based on this text, so this is a Google sheet thing, if you want to see this code, just go over to extensions app script, over here, go to on edit, so here's the on, here's the menu that we're going to be
3:04 using, and you just have to find on edit, and you can see the code as it is. It's just taking whatever is in front of it, edited in this column on this page, finds the background text, and then colors it for you.
3:19 So, if you want to sub-label in important, you go vary, and you want this to be maybe not teal, but dark green, for instance.
3:30 Let's see, it changes it. Okay. And, let's say we have some other labels we want to do. I find this incredibly useful to write labels here, color them here, instead of having to write it in Gmail.
3:42 And, all I have to do is go up to Declutter, go up to Setup, Gmail Labels, Create Labels, and it will create all of these for me.
3:50 I'm going to show you right now, because this is just running the script. It'll take a few seconds. Let's see it.
3:57 Okay. Create and Organize. Okay. I just have to read. Refresh my Gmail. And there they are, on the left side.
4:04 All with sub ones. There's Important and Very. That is a little bit wrong, but I'll fix that. But here, Archivable and Processed is correct.
4:24 I don't know why it didn't pop Maybe because they're different colors. I don't know. I'll figure that out. But yeah, the Archivable and Processed was created correctly.
4:33 Chikkun Chuktu was created correctly. Very cool, right? I think it's very cool. And then, what I do is, in order to get an email message, on here, I don't have to copy and paste.
4:51 I don't have to do anything. All I have to do is, actually, I want to see, uh, second. So, I use Kit.
4:58 Here's help at convertkit.com. Maybe if I catch it, I want to see this. But I really just don't care that much.
5:06 I want it archived every day. So, I will click and drag the label over here. And now, that's all I have to do.
5:15 The other thing I have to do in here is start the Automate Archive Daily Enabledness. And what this does is just every day it runs this archive, archivable emails.
5:26 So, I'm going to show you what this happens right now. I'm going to run that script and it's going to show up here.
5:33 There, so that's what Archivable does. It just adds that. Email here and then every day it'll archive those emails. So, what's also cool is that I can delete emails.
5:44 So, if I put, now this one is a little different because it is very destructive and so you do have to come in here and paste the email here and be like, okay, I just want to delete this every day.
5:56 I want to delete these. Uhm, I will actually try it with the same Thank And basically it goes, finds all the email from them, yeah, and then it'll delete it.
6:08 So, let's put that. This is paste values here. Uhm, now all I have to do is come up here and delete probable spam.
6:19 Now, again, this is not automated. If you want it automated, again, ask that feature. I'm just set creating a this Gmail declutter engine right now.
6:28 So, let me know how it goes if you want to do more. I want to show you one extra thing that I don't really want publicized, but it is possible.
6:36 Delete probable spam. Let's hope it works. By the way, how did I connect this? This, you're gonna have to click set up.
6:52 One second, I'll show you how to do that. So, I can go in here and I can search for help and you can see it deleting them all.
7:07 So it deleted 393 threads from three senders. It's when they sent it so these emails are not, it's help at kit.com, not help at convertkit.com.
7:21 So, it did it. It actually deleted like 339 threads. Pretty cool, right? So, that's three things it does. Creates labels that you can create it.
7:34 Deletes probable spam and automate archiving. From Gmail. So, once this is enabled, it's done. So, uh, what happens is the first time you create labels, you're gonna have to authorize and if for any reason, something's not working, just dub, come into Apps Script, over at extensions, Apps Script and
7:58 just double check that this Gmail services on or click if it's not, click it. Click this plus button and then add a Gmail as a service.
8:05 And then you can click, uh, I guess, run on open. Anything you wanna run, it'll give you an error, but it should ask you to authorize.
8:14 And that's how it works now. But I wanna show you one extra thing. If you are brave or curious, I have a do not go here, which is nuke my inbox.
8:24 And this is just a way to say, if you're, if you wanna get rid of every single message in your inbox, in your Gmail, it'll ask you a few times, are you, do you really wanna do this?
8:37 Are you sure you wanna delete all inbox emails? This is everything. And I'm gonna say no, cause I don't want to.
8:43 But after a few times, if you say yes, it'll, it'll destroy everything, every email, get you back to zero, the pure inbox zero.
8:49 Crazy, I know. Uhm, again, I'm working on this and hoping that it helps you, uh, declutter your Gmail.
9:02 Let me know how it goes.
