Welcome. I have a date here, and I want to actually have just the day of the week. So I just wanna display that. There's a few ways to do this. I'm gonna show you a few of them. We could format this A1, but I just wanna show you in B1 how we can use this date and show the day of the week, meaning not, like, the day of the month, like a number , but is it Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Fri- Friday, whatever, Friday, whatever. You could potentially just do equals A1 here and wrap week- weekday around it. This is gonna get us a number . And I think there's really two cool ways to do this. One, I can wrap text around this, and I can do comma, and Switch Data How to Know the Day of the Week of Any Date

in quotes, I can do day, day, d. I say day, but it's d, d, d. Four D's gets the entire name of the entire day. But if I just do three D's, it's the three-letter abbreviation. And I can change this to, like, a Monday. And now anytime I change this date, this text is changing in B1. But what if I just wanted to have Weekday A1. I could also go up to Format , Number , scroll down to Custom Date and Time, and delete all of this stuff in here. A- click on the down arrow, do Day, then click on the day, and I can How to Format Timestamp to Day and Month How to Know the Day of the Week of Any Date

do Day N- Full Name, and Apply. And there we go. I could also do that with just A1. I don't need to put any sort of formula around it. It works as well. Again, I can switch now the day, the date over here. And when I switch the date, that day changes for the day of the week. So I showed you already formula and formatting way, and it works sort of all, sort of magically. Even if I switch it to weekday here, this format is correct. Isn't that cool? And if I didn't have this cell here, A1, I wanted to have the date inside of here How To Change Date Format Automatically Your First Formula in Google Sheets How to Know the Day of the Week of Any Date

Could do that But it's actually getting an error . So I need to wrap this date with date, and we need to format it in a different way. Date, we actually need to do the year first, month, and the day And if we don't have weekday around it, we'll see… Actually, we need to take this format off The date is getting us literally a number , 46,172 And that is Saturday. But now I can wrap text DDD, and it shows Saturday. If I change it to the 19th, but in here I change it, the number to 19, you see that it's actually changing. So there's a lot of cool ways to use dates here inside of a cell, dates referenced in another cell, and either d- use a formula like text to format the numbers to words, or use Format up in the top here, and we're gonna use number , or we're gonna use custom date and time.
