How To Make Cells Bigger in Google Sheets
Learn how to make cells bigger in Google Sheets by resizing columns and rows or merging cells for a cleaner dashboard display.
You want to make your cells bigger. We're going to do it actually a couple of ways. One, we're going to resize the column in a row. So in case of the sums of January and February, we're going to display these on a dashboard . We're going to have these formulas be automatic, but we want to display this in a nice way. And we want the January part to be smaller and the B column and these two cells to be bigger. One way we can do that is right click and resize column , and here we can say this will be 400, and it will be resize row , and let's say to 200 now can vertically align these and horizontally align them, and now we can make the size bigger, like 40, 40, here. Yes, resizing the rows and resizing the columns will make your cells bigger, but there's another way we can do this, and that is to merge cells .
So let's say we have January here and February here, and we have our numbers here. We can take two cells and merge them. Do that again. Center that. And then take, let's say, four rows and two columns and merge that. And do that as well for February. And now again we will vertically and horizontally align. And let's increase the size of this font. And that way you can make a cell bigger. Now the interesting thing about merging cells is that The entire merged area will have the same address as the upper left corner, so B5. In fact, in sort of weird terms, C5, C6, they don't exist anymore. So if we go C6, we'll see there's nothing there.
Even though this merged area, it has C6 in it, It won't get anything. So if we want to reference it, we'll need to get the very upper left corner, B5, and that's the address of the entire merge cell. So that's one thing to watch out for when you make your cells bigger by merging things. If you increase the size of the column width and the row size, this problem doesn't exist.
