How to Create Checklist that Unchecks Daily

Learn how to create a daily checklist in Google Sheets that automatically unchecks itself every morning using Apps Script. This tutorial covers the necessary code and how to set up triggers for automation.

We've created a checklist and we check it every single day, or we get halfway through and we forget about it, but every morning we want to uncheck this. I'm going to show you how in this video. Go up to extensions, Apps Script . Once you're there, you'll see function . My function we'll rename this function UncheckList. We're only gonna need two lines of code. Variable ss equals spreadsheet app dot get active spreadsheet . This is just getting the variable of the entire spreadsheet or workbook we're in. We want to do something very specific to this. So we say SS GI sheet. Get sheet by name. The name is going to be daily. This name is going to be the name of your tab here. And we just want to uncheck the A column. And the only thing we need to do is dot uncheck with parentheses. Save this. And once you save it, this function uncheck list will show up here. If you have other functions , there'll be a dropdown list of other functions here. Click run. And you'll see none of these are checked. And if we check them again, and let's just run it again. Go back and you'll see they're unchecked. But how do we trigger this every single day? The last keyword is daily. We don't really want to come in here to Apps Script , click run, and uncheck that list. We want this to be done every day for us. So in our app script , go over to the left side, click triggers. Once it loads on the bottom, right click add trigger . We're going to choose which function to run. This will be a dropdown list of other functions. Once you do that, some other options appear like we want to change this to day timer and time of day. Now choose any particular hour during the day, midnight to midnight. If you want it at the end of the day, if you want it at the beginning of the morning, choose which time I like to have it four to five a. m. before I come in for work. I want it unchecked. Click save. If you haven't done so yet, it will ask you to authorize at that moment you save. And now every single day this checklist will be unchecked.
