How to Change Checkbox Value in Google Sheets

Learn how to customize checkbox values in Google Sheets from true/false to any text you prefer, such as 'approved' or 'not yet approved'. This video guides you through the steps to set up custom values for checkboxes effectively.

So you want to change the checkbox value from true or false to something else? Well, I'm gonna show you in this video here, I have a column of commission and I can insert checkbox , but the underlying value of this checkbox right now is false. And then if I check it, it's true. Whereas I actually want that value if I export this to not be true or false, but either maybe yes or no or approved or unapproved. So I'm gonna select these check boxes and I'm gonna right click. I'm gonna go to view more cell actions data validation . I have some other data validation , so I have to select the right one. This is the E column checkbox. I'll click on that. And here I have the range to apply the criteria. And now I have a checkbox that says, use custom sell values. I will check that.

And now the checked, I will say, approved and unchecked, not yet approved. I can say a phrase, I can say some text. I can possibly have even some emojis. We'll do thumbs up. And thumbs down. Done. And so now I check these off and you can see the value in the cell. Here is that new custom value. It's how you change your checkbox value. You are watching better sheets here on YouTube.
