How to freeze a line in Google Sheets

Open View → Freeze → 1 row (or 2 rows / Up to row …) to lock header rows while you scroll. You can also drag the horizontal freeze handle under the row numbers. Use this so labels stay on screen as you move through long lists.

Steps

  1. 1

Put headers in the top row(s).

  2. 2

    Go to View → Freeze.

  3. 3

Choose 1 row, 2 rows, or Up to current row.

  4. 4

Clear later with View → Freeze → No rows.
