iPhone vs Samsung Galaxy vs Google Pixel: Which Is More Popular?

Three phone brands, five years of real Wikipedia readers. The iPhone is far ahead, and the fight for second place is closer than you'd think. Chart it yourself free in Google Sheets.

Phone sales figures come from analysts' estimates, and every brand picks the one that makes it look best. So here's a number none of them control: how many people read each brand's Wikipedia article, every month, for five years.

I charted all three on the Controls tab of my free Google Sheet, the Wikipedia Trends Tracker. Here's what it shows, and how to make the same chart for any three things.

The short answer

By English Wikipedia readers, the iPhone is far more popular than Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel: about 1.52 million readers in 2025, against about 522,000 for Samsung Galaxy and about 498,000 for Google Pixel. Galaxy and Pixel are close. Pixel was actually ahead for 2024 as a whole.

The numbers

All figures are human readers of the English Wikipedia articles "IPhone", "Samsung Galaxy" and "Google Pixel", from Wikimedia's pageviews API.

  • iPhone: about 2.39 million readers in 2022, about 1.52 million in 2025. Its biggest month in five years was September 2022.
  • Samsung Galaxy: about 502,000 in 2022, about 568,000 in 2024, about 522,000 in 2025.
  • Google Pixel: about 377,000 in 2022, about 672,000 in 2024, about 498,000 in 2025.

From January to September 2026, Galaxy had about 287,000 readers and Pixel about 280,000. Neck and neck.

What the chart shows

The iPhone has a heartbeat

The iPhone line jumps every August and September, when Apple announces new models, then settles back. It's one of the clearest seasonal patterns you'll find on Wikipedia. If you sell anything iPhone-related, that's your calendar.

Pixel had a big 2024

Google Pixel's line climbed through 2023 and peaked in May 2024, the month of Google I/O and the Pixel 8a launch. For that year it out-read Samsung Galaxy, a much bigger brand by phones sold.

Everything drifted down

All three lines are lower in 2026 than in 2022. That's common for big, familiar topics on Wikipedia. It's why comparing against something similar matters more than looking at one line alone.

How to chart three brands yourself

  1. Get the free template from the Trend Tracker page and make a copy.
  2. Open the Controls tab. It's the first one.
  3. Paste three Wikipedia links into Page 1 to Page 3: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPhone, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Pixel.
  4. Set Range to All time and Daily or monthly to Monthly.
  5. Click Fetch views + chart. The first time, Google asks you to allow the script.
  6. Read the shared chart for who's ahead, then the Views tab has every month's number for each page. To see the smaller line's shape, chart its column on its own.

Compare brand articles with brand articles. "iPhone 17" against "Samsung Galaxy" isn't fair, because one is a single model and the other is a whole family.

For the two-way platform version, see the iPhone vs Android page.

FAQ

Is the iPhone more popular than Samsung Galaxy?

By English Wikipedia readers, yes, by roughly three to one in 2025. That measures how many people look it up, not how many phones each sells worldwide.

Is Google Pixel more popular than Samsung Galaxy?

It depends on the year. Pixel's article out-read Galaxy's in 2024. Galaxy was slightly ahead in 2025 and in 2026 through September.

Why English Wikipedia only?

It's the biggest edition, so it's what I used here. Phone brands are popular in different countries, so other language editions would tell a different story.
