What is Format as Table in Google Sheets?
Excel Format as Table turns a range into a structured table with filters and banded rows. Google Sheets now has Tables too: select data and use Insert > Table for headers, column types, and table actions. Syntax for structured references differs from Excel.
When to use it
Use Insert > Table when Excel formatted tables for filtering, totals, or readable column names.
When to skip it
Skip table conversion when a one-off range only needs a quick filter, not ongoing table features.
