How to Append a CSV in Google Sheets

0:00 In this video, I'm going to show you how to append a CSV in Google sheets. We have a CSV and we want to append it to the bottom of this tab or this sheet. I'm going to go up to file import and I'm going to select upload. I'm going to either be able to browse through my files or I can drag a file here. I'm going to go over to my sidebar and I have my file already, so I'm going to just click and drag it. You'll see this blue appear here. And I can drop it. And depending on the size, it may take a few moments or not at all. Then you will have some options where the very first thing, the default thing that's going to be selected is going to be create a new spreadsheet . This will create an entirely new spreadsheet file, so that's not what we want to do. You may want to insert a new sheet, but this will create a new tab inside the exact spreadsheet file you have open.

So it's going to delete all of the data we have already and replace it with the CSV file. , we also don't want to replace our current sheet . The entire tab needs to be deleted. just added to. So what we're going to choose is append to current sheet. We can replace the data at selected cell only if we have selected the exact cell we want to replace the data at. In our case we want to append to current sheet. We have other options here like the separator. We can choose tab comma or even create a custom separator. And we can also choose to convert or not convert text to numbers, dates, and formulas if we do wish. Once you have all of your options selected that you wish append to current sheet. Click import data, the big green button on the bottom. And now our data is here but is not formatted. So maybe what we might want to do is copy and paste just the formats.
